Otter Tail County Detention Facility

WHO ARE WE?
OTC Justice CenterThe Detention Facility was built in 1987 and has a capacity of 111. We hold sentenced and unsentenced prisoners from within our county as well as prisoners for other counties, the Department of Corrections, Immigration and US Marshals.

WHAT TYPE OF PROGRAMS DO WE HAVE?
Chemical dependency, bible study, church, adult education, gym and library are some of the programming services available to the inmates.

Work Release - This program gives inmates the opportunity to maintain their current employment or obtain employment while incarcerated. The inmates must pay the County a set fee per day to have that privilege.

ICWC (Institution Community Work Crew) - This Department of Corrections program utilized minimum-security prison inmates to build low income housing throughout the area. The inmates receive an hourly wage based on the length of time they have been in the program.

STS (Sentencing to Service) - This program utilizes minimum security jail inmates to provide services throughout the county. Examples of some projects they work on are Glendalough State Park, work for townships (cutting brush, ditch cleanup, etc), jail kitchen help, Salvation Army and many more. The inmates receive a set amount per hour they work that is applied directly to any fines they have on file.
