 Stop Invasive Species
BEFORE LAUNCHING … BEFORE LEAVING …
INSPECT your boat, trailer & equipment. REMOVE visible aquatic plants, zebra mussels, other animals, & mud. DRAIN water from boat, bilge, motor & livewell, remove drain plug & open all water draining devices away from boat ramp. DISPOSE unwanted live bait & worms in the trash. SPRAY/WASH your boat, trailer & equipment with high pressure or hot water before going to other waters, OR DRY everything for at least 5 days. |
Why Is This Important? |
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Training |
THESE HITCHHIKERS…
Reduce game fish populations
Ruin boat engines and jam steering equipment
Make lakes/rivers unusable by boaters and swimmers
Dramatically increase the operating costs of drinking water plants, power plants, dam maintenance, and industrial processes
Reduce native species

The new, mandatory, AIS training for Lake Service Providers will be held at various locations across the state. The seminars are designed for the business permit holder, and will provide all participants with DNR certification on best management practices to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
