Construction Projects Update

Road Work Ahead

The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners has retained the services of SRF Consulting Group, Inc. (SRF), to complete a Corridor Study/Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for segments of CSAH 9 and CSAH 20 on the west and north side of Pelican Lake.  The study process is expected to begin in late June 2008 and last approximately one year.  The study will document transportation issues affecting the existing corridor (e.g. number of accesses, traffic volumes, speeds, crash rates, and horizontal and vertical alignments).  Once this information has been gathered, SRF will work with the County and stakeholder representatives to review the County’s past realignment analysis and to determine an additional alignment alternative (either another realignment alternative or a modification to the current alignment).  These alternatives will be evaluated and a preferred alternative will be selected.  The Consultant will then complete the EAW for the preferred alternative.

A Study Review Committee will guide the planning process and the public will be invited to provide input at key study milestones.  The first open-house style public meeting will be held in mid-August to solicit input on issues, needs, a corridor vision, roadway design elements and preliminary concepts.  Additional detailed public notification of the meeting will be provided at a later date.

For more information on the study, interested persons can contact Mr. Rick West, PE, Otter Tail County Engineer or Mr. Charles Grotte, PE, Otter Tail County Assistant Engineer at (218) 998-8470.
