The
mission of the Otter Tail County Board of
Commissioners is to:
1.
Carry out the lawful duties delegated by
the state legislature.
2.
Provide the people of Otter Tail County
with affordable, efficient government services.
3.
Serve the people of Otter Tail County by
striving to provide a quality of life which
affords people a healthy and safe work and
recreation environment.
RATIONALE:
The
Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners
acts as an arm of state government to carry
out those duties and responsibilities that
have been outlined by legislative action.
In
addition to those mandated services, it
is the responsibility of the Commissioners
to carry out, to the best of their ability,
those duties that deal with the smooth operation
of the county. Those duties include such
items as tax collection and the services
associated with it such as land assessing
and communication systems, the maintenance
of highways, the collection and direction
of the solid waste stream, the issuance
of permits and licensing in addition to
those areas necessary for the day-to-day
operation of county government.
It
is not only the responsibility of the Commissioners
to work with and assist those people who
deal in services that benefit the general
work environment, health, and recreation
of residents of Otter Tail County, but also
to protect the environment for future generations.
Those areas may include public health, land
and resource, and park maintenance among
others.
Finally,
it is the responsibility of the Otter Tail
County Board of Commissioners to:
Discuss issues and cooperate with state
officials.
Act as a sounding board for county residents
as needed.
Encourage staff and residents to work together
for the purpose of effecting the best quality
of life for residents of Otter Tail County.
