Comment Period Begins For Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
On Perham Incinerator Expansion
Project; Final EIS will be presented at the MPCA Citizens' Board Meeting
on March 26, 2013 for the Perham Resource Recovery Facility Expansion
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is accepting comments on the
final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a proposed expansion of a
municipal solid waste incinerator in Perham.
Perham Resource Recovery Facility (PRRF) is operated by the Prairie
Lakes Municipal Solid Waste Authority through a joint powers agreement
between Becker, Otter Tail, Todd, and Wadena counties. The authority has
proposed adding a waste heat boiler, additional air pollution control
equipment and a material recovery facility. The expansion would increase
the municipal solid waste processing capacity of the facility from 116
to 200 tons per day. The facility generates steam that is used by nearby
MPCA will present the final EIS, final comments, and responses to those
comments at the MPCA Citizens' Board meeting on March 26, 2013, in St.
Paul, for a ruling on the adequacy of the EIS. Anyone may appear at this
meeting and address the Board. All those already on the mailing list
for this project and others who request the information will be notified
of the time and location of the meeting and will receive copies of the
documents being presented to the Board.
