The mission of the Recorder’s office is to provide professional customer service while accurately and efficiently recording real estate transfers, personal property documents & vital records.

The Otter Tail County Recorder & Registrar of Titles office is the custodian of all records of the County pertaining to personal property, real estate transfers and vital statistic records (Birth, Death & Marriage). They provide storage, access, retrieval and copies of these records for the public and businesses.

Other documents recorded in our office include State and Federal Tax Liens, Veterans of Armed Services discharges, Notary Public registration and Ministerial credentials.

Otter Tail County does not provide assistance in the completion of legal forms nor does the County assume liability for persons who attempt to complete legal documentation on their own. Once a document is recorded it is a permanent record and cannot be altered or removed by our office. A document can only be removed with a Court Order.  Consulting with a legal representative to assist in land transfer documents and title searches is recommended.
